Dorm Bathroom Starter Pick
Towels are on every packing list and are usually the item people buy cheapest and regret first. In a communal bathroom setup they get used, washed, and hung to dry in a small room constantly, which is hard on thin cotton.
Bamboo fibre is the draw here mainly because it dries faster than standard cotton. In a dorm room with limited airflow and nowhere good to hang a towel, drying time is the practical difference.
A six-piece set also means you are not doing laundry around a single towel, which is the situation most first-years end up in.
- Dries faster than standard cotton in a humid room
- Six pieces mean laundry is not urgent
- Holds up better than budget towels over a full year
- Compact to pack for move-in and move-out
- Costs more up front than a basic cotton set
- Still needs somewhere with airflow to dry properly
- Light colours show wear faster in shared bathrooms

Towels are a genuine buy-once item if you pick reasonably. The cheapest sets tend to need replacing partway through the year, which removes the saving.
If you are in a communal bathroom, factor in a robe or a second hook as well. Getting a towel dry is usually the harder problem in a dorm than getting a towel.
